The Ornate Elle Showpiece from our Mughal Marvels collection is actually two figurines in one, a mother elephant carrying a baby elephant inside. The mother elephant has been handmade in traditional Indian Jali work, which is an intricate lattice work with a pattern of openings. The inner baby elephant is a solid stone carving. A symbol of maternal love, this pachyderm has a majestic appearance with a pair of carved rosettes on her head and intricate decoration adorning flowing down the trunk. The sculpture has been painstakingly carved from a single block of stone, one wrong stroke and the openwork breaks and the artisan must discard the figurine and start all over again. Bring home this beautiful elephant, a historical tribute to the strength and glory of mothers, and a great present for your parent or the expectant mother.
