Here is why we love Christmas!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! This much-awaited time of the year is marked by candy canes and twinkling lights, adorning the streets, shops, and homes, as well as bustling Christmas markets, and a general atmosphere of festive fervor. From stacking up presents for our loved ones to baking pepparcakes and preparing lavish meals for family gatherings, it is the season of abundance.

A walk along the busy streets of the market is a joy to behold – the aroma of freshly baked goodies wafting in the air, glittering Christmas trees, exciting products and the giggles of small children eating cookies to their heart’s content. The happy melodies of Christmas music coming from a nearby house simply adds to the magic in the air.

Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, the end of the year itself has a magical pull to it. The closing of a chapter and beginning of something new and fresh. The magical holiday season brings forth the opportunity to revel in the joy of sharing – gifts, food, and moments of happiness with our friends and family. The love and warmth is palpable as we make plans and check items off our lists!

The relaxed vibe of the festivities is taken one step further by the special treats cooked by our parents and grandparents. Julbord, or ‘Christmas table,’ comprises foods traditionally served around the holidays. Delicacies like pickled herring, pâtés, and cold cuts, are followed by a range of hot dishes, like meatballs and ham, along with some pieces of bread and cheeses, and finally, a spread of delicious desserts like rice pudding and marzipan.

The joy of gift giving during Christmas is unmatched to anything else. Thoughtfully picking up something that brings a smile on the faces of our near and dear ones makes them realise how much they mean to us. It definitely is a gesture that conveys gratitude, thoughtfulness and above all, love.

This is the essence of Christmas, sharing love and expressing gratitude, families and friends coming together, revisiting fond old memories and creating beautiful new ones. It is truly a season of hope, of accepting the year that has been, and walking into the new year with faith and love. So, bring out the Christmas lights and decorations, and get ready for a magical holiday season.

  Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
